I don't know at this time if it is available online or not. I can certainly request that they post the design on the Collier County web site and I am sure they will comply. Good idea. Keep checking this post for updates.Additionally, you can watch the Board of County Commissioners meeting online through the Collier County Web Site as well. Their meeting will be on 5/13 and I will confirm that the Park design will be presented. If not presented on 5/13, it will be at the next meeting on 5/27.Phil Brougham

Parks & Recreation has responded to my request to post the proposed design of the Manatee Park on their Web Site. A link can be found by going to Collier County Home page (www.colliergov.net), tab to Parks & Recreation Dept, click on Parks Projects and look for Manatee Park. The link to the design is right there. It is a PDF and you can enlarge it. All of the features are not identified but you can probably spot the tennis courts and pavilions, etc.Phil Brougham

ResidentsThe Manatee Park design meeting was held yesterday and well attended. Due to reduced impact fees to Parks & Recreation, it appears that the park will need to be constructed in phases, with phase I containing all amenities but the Community Center. Phase II would complete the Community Center. There was considerable discussion about the proposed day care area in the Community Center with most sentiment against it and as a result saving $3-4Million bucks. The plan will go before the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, May 13th. There is no specific time for the item on the agenda however so could be late in the afternoon.Phil Brougham

Residents,I attended the Board of County Commissioner's meeting yesterday where the design proposal for Manatee Park was presented for approval.I spoke with regard to the proposal and urged the Board to approve funding the next step of design HOWEVER without the proposed space for the day care center in the Community Center building. At the neighborhood information meeting held on 5/8, the residents were united in the opinion we did not need or want a day care center at an incremental cost of $2 million dollars. The Board approved funding the next step, excluding the space for the day care center, which will result in a detailed set of specifications which can then be bid out. Funding remains a significant issue with only $2.4 million currently earmarked for the park. Estimated costs for the park are now $12 million without the day care center. Funding is totally dependent on impact fees associated with new construction and those fees are vastly reduced from prior years. It may take us 4/5 years to see the park materialize but I will continue to monitor and report on the project.Phil Brougham
