What is CCQ?

The Consort Contemporain de Québec (Québec City's Contemporary Consort) is an  organization specialized in the creation and the diffusion of contemporary classical musics founded in 2002 and  who has as principal objectives to ensure a big part of the presence of the new musics created in Québec City, the whole Québec and Canada, and to rugularly offer a professional platform to the fifteen (15) of the more deserving emerging composers and instrumentalists from Québec City aera's musical scene.

After having supported sets of classical music of variable geometries while coordinating or by diffusing in various mediums and contexts, the CCQ became what it is today: a complete, fixed chamber orchestra, devoted to 20th et 21st century repertoire.  By its collaborations of various nature with important musical scene representants, the CCQ offers the chance to its members to be held with the points of knowledge and performance in contemporary musics.

For the composers, in addition of obtaining the advisability of creating several works in a residence context, they have the occasion to work jointly with foreground interpreters, allowing the meeting and the exchange with ultimate aiming the strengthening of the practice and the refinement of new esthetics.

The CCQ's characteristic approach of the various modern musical achievements is done with the intention of demystifying the contemporary music to the classical and popular musics audience from Québec and elsewhere by evoking a leaning which is sometimes more theatrical, humorous, sometimes more informative.

The musicians of the Cosort contemporain de Québec are among the young most promising artists of the classical scene of Québec, having collected several prices, purses, mentions and distinctions coming from their teaching institutions or from reknown contests.
