Metro Canada Interactive is looking for a versatile web application developer for metronews.ca and journalmetro.com. The successful candidate is a creative problem solver with a desire and ability to create cool and effective user experiences through his/her expertise in web technologies. This individual loves to tackle challenges and finds different ways to approach front-end and back-end programming problems, quickly finding solutions.
The ideal candidate has previous experience developing and maintaining consumer friendly websites, including experience with media websites, communities and Content Management Systems. They have a firm grasp of both back-end scripting languages and front end development languages and enjoy working with both. Web design, UI and project management skills allow this individual to work independently.
This position will report to the Interactive Content Manager and work closely with Metro's one other Interactive Developer.
Essential Skills:
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Web language skills including ASP.NET
• CSS, XHTML, HTML/DHTML, JavaScript, Jquery
• SQL Server 2005
